Short company description:
42-1 StoryWorks is evolving into a speaking and publishing platform built around one central purpose: giving people and their stories a voice. Our primary focus is speaking, with presentations delivered by me and, increasingly, by fellow veterans who bring unique experiences, expertise, and perspectives to the stage. Our publishing arm extends that same mission to the written word, providing writers and creative voices of all ages an opportunity to tell stories that deserve to be heard.
What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome in your business?
Learning a new skill set ranging from technical expertise to growing a scalable audience.
How did you get started in your field of work?
While in the corporate world, I felt a drive to create stories, specifically to write a novel. I took a big leap and simply began writing and creating presentations with the hope of aligning with my true strengths and finding my audience.
What was the most impactful moment of your transition out of the military?
Staying behind as my friends and colleagues left for a major operation in Libya. I had no job lined up, and was returning to the U.S. with no definitive plan.
